Change!

Alreet!

It’s been a while! And so much has happened

Left my job at Hochanda TV for what I thought was my dream job working with animals. That went completely sideways and I ended up jobless. Nightmare! Lost all my mojo to craft and was pretty miserable.

I need to learn to just relax and go with the flow because when you’re at the bottom, the only way is up. One meeting, a rushed move and a lot of help from some good people and I’m now living down south working for Claritystamp. And I’m happy as larry!

In my second week now, and I’ve learnt so much! Check out my work with the gel press last week, first attempts ever!

Then I had a play with some alcohol inks:

And some stamps!

I’ve even been asked to be part of the Groovi design team, my mobile data is giving up and it won’t upload the photos of my first samples (hurry up 19th July, I can have wi-fi again!) but they can be seen in my Facebook page, Geordie Unicorn Crafts 🙂

The new house is officially unpacked, and as of next week, we will be rid of our old place in Peterborough. Hoping things will calm down and I can blog a little more!

Thank you for stopping round,

Ta’ra

Clarity Gold Club Review

Hello!

Hope 2017 is treating you well so far – mine hasn’t been the greatest but onward and upward!

In my last post, I briefly mentioned that I’d joined the Clarity Gold club. Now I’ve had a couple of instalments through, I can safely say that it is worth every penny. I opted for the stamp and groovi clubs, however I’m already considering upgrading my membership to include the stencil club as I’m enjoying it so much.

Every month, you receive either a stamp, stencil or groovi plate (depending on which club you’ve opted for) and each comes with a step by step inspiration sheet with two projects. On top of that, you get a storage folder, 10% discount on Clarity products, free P&P and a monthly newsletter. As a relatively novice crafter still, the tuition was my primary motive for signing up, and I have not been let down.

Below are my first creations from the club:

Not perfect, still a long way to go but overall I’m very happy with what I’ve accomplished.

As I was enjoying it so much, I had a look at the back issues of club instalments and found an absolutely gorgeous wolf stamp which I had to have. I think he’s my favourite so far, and I’m super impressed with the finished project:

I never could have achieved something like this a few months ago. The instructions are so easy to follow and come complete with full colour images so you can wrap your head around each individual step.

I also ordered myself a back issue of a stencilling pack as I wanted to have a dabble to help me decide whether to upgrade my membership or not. I opted for the hare stencil and this was my first attempt:

Not too bad for a rookie stenciller!

Overall, I would highly recommend the Clarity club. I’ve learnt so much already and can’t wait to see where it takes my skills over the coming months. Plus you’ll always have the excitement of receiving a mystery envelope of crafty goodies at the end of each month.

Thank you for popping by!

Groovi Sunday

Alreet pet!

Happy very early Monday morning to you all… Monday doesn’t hold the same dread for me as most people…I work shifts so it’s a 50/50 chance I’ll be working. Same with any other day. However I do still enjoy the occasional lazy Sunday (one out of every two in fact) and this Sunday, I’ve been getting back into my Groovi parchment crafting.

Groovi was one of the first crafts I got into after Barbara Gray very kindly gifted me with the starter kit (every job has it’s perks) but I’ve been out of practice for a while.

I’ve recently joined the Clarity Gold Club, so I thought it would be the ideal time to throw myself back into it, and this was the result:

As Barbara always encourages when she demonstrates, I used elements of different plates to get the result. For this one, I used plates from the wonderful Jayne Nestoreko range, the three wrens plate and the landscape plate from the starter kit. To colour the image, I used Spectrum Noir colourblend pencils and backed it onto a paper from the Northern lights paper pad, also from Claritystamp.

This was my first dabble with perforating around the edges, which is something I really need practice on, both this and my white work. Nevertheless I’m pretty pleased with the finished piece especially as I’m so out of practice.

Groovi is a bloody wonderful system, perfect for impatient people like me who like instant results. If you’re looking for a new relaxing hobby, I can’t recommend this enough.

Thank for popping by,

Ta’ra
